2Authorisations

  • RAR authorisation: a car repair shop usually needs authorisation from the Romanian Automotive Register for the work it does.
  • Environment: used oil, tyres and old parts are handed over to authorised companies, with records.
  • The premises: the workshop is registered as the registered office or a place of business, with its activities.

3SRL or PFA?

For a shop with staff and expensive equipment, an SRL is usually better: no personal liability and any number of employees. A mechanic working alone can also start as a PFA. Compare in the calculator.

4The steps

  • Three name options for the company

Which CAEN code is for car repair?

9531, “Repair and maintenance of motor vehicles”. In the old classification it was 4520.

Which CAEN code is for a tyre service?

Also 9531. If you also sell tyres, add 4782.

Do I need RAR authorisation?

Usually yes, for repair and maintenance work. We tell you what applies at the consultation.

Can I open a car repair shop as a PFA?

Yes, if you work alone or with at most 3 employees. For a larger shop an SRL is more suitable.
