1Which CAEN code to choose

CAEN Rev. 3 no longer has a separate code for selling online. The code is chosen by the products you sell, however you sell them: in a shop, online or on a marketplace.

  • 4771: clothing. 4772: footwear.
  • 4775: cosmetics and perfumes.
  • 4740: computers, phones and electronics.
  • 4764: games and toys. 4776: flowers, plants and pet products.
  • 4712: if you sell a wide variety of mainly non-food products.

2PFA or SRL?

  • PFA: good to start, with low volume. At most 5 CAEN classes, so a limited number of product categories.
  • SRL: suits you if you sell many categories, hold large stock or want to protect your personal assets.

3What your online shop must include

  • Company details: name, tax ID (CUI), Trade Register number and registered address.
  • Terms and conditions, return policy (14 days for consumers) and privacy policy.
  • Links to alternative dispute resolution (ANPC) and the EU ODR platform.

If you sell to consumers in other EU countries, special VAT rules apply above a threshold. Your accountant helps with them.

4The steps

  1. Free consultationWe agree on the right legal form, the activities and the registered address.
  2. The nameWe check and reserve the name at the Trade Register.
  3. The documentsWe prepare everything for a PFA or SRL, with CAEN code matching your products. You sign once: at the office or from home.
  4. The certificateUsually within a few working days of the complete filing.
  5. You start tradingWith the registration certificate you open your bank, platform or client accounts.

5Documents needed

  • ID card
  • Proof for the address: title deed or rental agreement. We draft the loan-for-use agreement.
  • What you'll do, so we can choose the CAEN codes (at most 5 classes for a PFA)

If you keep stock in a warehouse, we register it as a place of business. If you only work from home, the address can be your home.

6Frequently asked questions

Which CAEN code is for an online shop?

In CAEN Rev. 3 the code depends on the products: for example 4771 for clothing or 4775 for cosmetics. There is no separate online-sales code any more.

Can I sell on eMAG with a PFA?

Marketplaces require a registered business, usually a PFA or SRL. Check the platform's exact requirements before signing up.

Do I need a warehouse?

Not necessarily. You can work from home. If you have a separate warehouse, we register it as a place of business.

What must my website show?

Company details, terms and conditions, return and privacy policies, and the ANPC links (SAL and ODR).
