1The steps
- We check the nameWe check the new name is available and reserve it at the Trade Register.

2Choosing a name that gets through
- It must differ from names already registered. One that's too similar can be refused.
- Have two or three options ready, in order of preference.
- To protect the name as a trademark, Trade Register registration isn't enough: trademarks are registered separately, with OSIM.
3The emblem
An emblem is the graphic sign that sets the company apart, for example the logo on your shop. It can be registered with the Trade Register, together with the name change or separately.
4After the change
- Update the name with your bank, on invoices, contracts, your website and your stamp.
- The Trade Register passes the change on to ANAF.

5Frequently asked questions
Does the CUI change with the name?
No. The CUI and the registration number stay the same.
Can I keep part of the old name?
Yes, as long as the new name is different from other companies'. We check first.
Do I need a new bank account?
No. You inform the bank and it updates the account holder's name.
How long does it take?
The name is reserved the same or the next day. After the complete file is filed, the Trade Register usually resolves it within a few working days.
