1Why CAEN codes matter
Every company activity has a CAEN code. A company may legally carry out only the activities registered with the Trade Register. If you start something new, for example selling online alongside repairs, you add the right code first.
Companies set up before 2025 must move their activities to CAEN Rev. 3 codes by 25 March 2027.The deadline for moving to CAEN Rev. 3 was 25 March 2027. If your company hasn't done it, it's best to do it as soon as possible. See how the update works.
2What you can change
- Add secondary activities, as many as you need.
- Drop activities you no longer carry out.
- Change the main activity, the one that brings most of the income.
- Set where each activity happens: at the registered office, a place of business, at clients' premises or online.
A PFA can have at most 5 activities; a sole proprietorship or family business at most 10. An SRL has no limit.

You risk fines and trouble at inspections. It's simpler to add the code before you start.
How many CAEN codes can an SRL have?

Can I change the main activity?
Yes, through a change at the Trade Register. Your accountant tells you whether it has tax effects for your company.
Do I have to move to CAEN Rev. 3?
Yes, if the company was set up before 2025. If you're making another change anyway, we update the codes in the same file.
How long does it take?
Once the complete file is submitted, the Trade Register usually resolves it within a few working days.
